Top marks from the Priorat
The Abella family has been producing wine in the Priorat region since the 15th century. The current wine estate has only been in existence in its present form since 2005 when David Marco and his family decided to manage the family’s old vineyards themselves and plant new vineyards. Modern wine cellars were built right in the middle of the steep vineyards where the wine production processes are conducted over three floors using the gravitation method. Today, the family has a total of 41 hectares of vineyards covering seven individual plots with widely varying soil conditions. All vineyards are located between 500 and 600 metres above sea level, making them some of the highest sites in the Priorat. This elevation is mirrored in all of the wines with their consistent crispness, finesse and elegance.
