Kessler Sekt
The Kessler Grande Réserve "Georges" is Kessler's oenological masterpiece and a tribute to the founder of the German sparkling wine industry, Georg Christian von Kessler, whose French nickname "Georges" is the namesake of Kessler's finest product. Georg Christian von Kessler had spent over two decades learning the art of sparkling wine production in Champagne before returning to Germany in 1826. The connection to France is also omnipresent in the further course of the company's history. In 1867, for example, Kessler was awarded the silver medal in the "Vins mousseux" category at the Paris World Exhibition. Founded in 1826 by Georg Christian von Kessler in Esslingen am Neckar, the Kessler sparkling wine cellar is known today as the oldest sparkling wine cellar in Germany. It is one of the few sparkling wine cellars in Germany with historical roots in Champagne. Since its foundation, Kessler has always relied on the traditional method and the bottle fermentation process. The house's top sparkling wines are all produced according to the "méthode traditionelle", and part of the production is still stored in the medieval maturing cellars of the Kessler house and shaken by hand. This elaborate process pays off and is masterfully reflected in the high-quality sparkling wines.
