La Montina
The La Montina winery is located in Monticelli Brusati in the province of Brescia, in the far north-east of the Franciacorta region. The first documented references to the winery date back to 1620, when Benedetto Montini, ancestor of Pope Paul VI, built the manor house that is now Villa Baiana. In 1982, the Bozza family acquired the "Tenute La Montina" estate. True to the family tradition of winegrowing, the three brothers Vittorio, Gian Carlo and Alberto gave the go-ahead for the construction of the winery, which is completely underground and covers an area of around 7,500 square meters. La Montina has dedicated itself wholeheartedly to the production of Franciacorta D.O.C.G. and is one of the most important representatives of Franciacorta with a production of around 400,000 bottles per year. At the same time, it is one of the few wineries that still uses a traditional vertical marbling press - a process that allows the grapes to be pressed particularly gently.
