Formerly in municipal ownership, the Lahr wine estate has been privately owned by the Wöhrle family since 1979. The 15 hectares of vines under cultivation are all on Lahr’s Schutterlindenberg in the Rhine Valley, with its partly terraced slopes providing perfect microclimatic conditions for viticulture. The vineyards have been managed in line with certified ecological winegrowing guidelines since 1990 with no synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers. The wines are mostly white and red Pinot varieties. The founder’s son Markus joined the family firm in 2002 after completing his studies and apprenticeship, bringing new ideas and innovations and is now responsible for the current wine style.
