100 years of excellence across five generations
The estate and the vineyards hug the Helderberg hillside at heights of up to 500 metres. The view over the Golden Triangle between Stellenbosch and Somerset West is breathtaking. The modern vineyard was founded back in 1693 as a farm but is mainly famous for the red wines crafted by five winemakers over the last 100 years. The elevation of the red wine estate could also be seen as a metaphor for the elevated values of the current winemaker, Bertho van der Westhuizen, who is treading in his father’s footsteps: He places strict quality requirements on the grapes to produce outstanding wines with a strong South African character.
